There are so many different teacup dogs such as the Teacup Yorkie or Teacup Chihuahua that of course one would think that there would be many different breeds of teacup kittens as well, but in fact presently the only genuine teacup cat is the teacup Persian also known as the Miniper.
Teacup cats and kittens are also often referred to as Miniature, Micro, Miniper, Toy and Teacup Persians but are in effect one and the same with minute differences usually only noticeable when comparing their weights and prices. The smaller the kitten the more expensive. The miniature being the “largest” of this small breed and micro even ultra micro being the smallest.
Teacups have come to be by mating the smallest of a litter with the smallest of another litter. The founder of teacup kittens is Cher Simmit who has a quite a few teacup kittens for sale.
The Miniper is a combination of Persian and Exotic. There is also the Minipaw breed which is a hybrid which carries both the genes of the the achondroplastic and primordial dwarfism.
A normal female cat weighs 11-14 pounds while a normal male will weigh 12-17 pounds. A teacup female cat will weigh 3-6.5 pounds while a male teacup cat will weigh 3-7.5 pounds. A true Teacup is very small in proportion and has shortened legs.
Teacup Persian (Miniper) For Sales – Sizes & Prices
Comparing felines on sale my research has shown that a Miniper Toy cat weighing in at 6-7 pounds and have a price tag of $1000-$1200. A male Miniper Teacup weighing 4,5-6 pounds will cost $1400 while a female will cost $1600. A Miniper Micro male weighing in at 4-5 pounds costs $2000 while a female costs $2200. There is even an Ultra Micro kitten being developed ready for sale very soon.
In the Teacup range this breeder also has Minipaw Toys for sale which weigh in at 6.5-7 pounds and are priced at $1000-$1200, male Minipaw Teacups weighing at 5-6 pounds at $1400, female at $1600 as well as Minipaw Micro males from $2000. White Minipaw Micros weighing in at as little as 3.5 to 4 pounds will be priced from $2200 for males and females
It is important to bear these measurements in mind while shopping around for a teacup kitten, but beware of the unscrupulous breeder who may try to pass the runt of the litter off as a teacup kitten. As many litters to suffer from repetitive inbreeding many kittens will be tiny and never reach their full growing potential.
Teacup Persian (Miniper) Breeders
At the moment it is very difficult to find a reputable breeder of teacup kittens in Europe as the breed originated in the United States. Of course shipment is possible further afield but can take its toll on the health of the felines while in transit.
There are many breeds of small, miniature and dwarf felines originating from Persians and some from the Munchkins to create even more exotic balls of fluff such as the Napoleon and Lambkin.
Many breeders will only sell you one of their kittens after careful consideration, many of which have also been spayed and neutered to ensure that they are in control of the gene pool and that you are purchasing a kitten as a pet and not as starting your own business. From the prices they are charging would entice many new breeders and a lot of competition which would rapidly bring down the prices of these pedigree teacups.
A careful breeder will only allow a couple of litters to be produces annually and control the gene pool to produce the healthiest kittens and maintain the females state of health.
