It is always interesting to see exactly how small these felines are and how much they weigh compared to the more “normal” Persian cats.
At birth a normal Persian cat will weigh approximately 4-6 oz while a Teacup Persian will weigh 2-3 oz.
At birth there doesn’t seem to be too much difference in their weights. The changes are more evident in the first weeks of their lives.
At 8 weeks when most teacup kittens are ready to leave their mothers they tend to weigh in at a range of 14-20 oz, while their Persian counterparts will weigh in at 32-38 oz.
At 12 weeks of age a Teacup Persian kitten will weigh 24-30 oz and a Persian will weigh 44-52 oz.
At 16 weeks the micro Persian will weigh in at 32-46 oz while a Persian cat will weigh in at 64-70 oz.
Between 8 and 12 months of age the Teacup Persian will be fully matured.
Fully grown Teacup Persians should be half the size of a normal Persian.
When looking to purchase a Teacup Persian be sure to find a reputable breeder preferably with references because often a scrupulous breeder could try and pass off runts of a litter as the genuine kitten for which you will be paying as much as $2500.
